Research fields: Philosophy of logic (dialogical logic) and epistemology, philosophy of science. My main contribution has been the development of the conception of dialogical logic as a general framework for building, combining and studying logics. The underlying foundational assumption of my approach to dialogic is a pragmatist semantics based on argumentative practices. This triggered both a systematic and historical a reconstruction of inferential practices where the notions of proposition and inference are understood dynamically, i.e. as a specific kind of interaction between agents within an adequate game structure where logical validity is defined with help of the notion of winning strategy. Though non-deductive reasoning such as non-monotonic reasoning has been studied, I did not yet explore systematically the possibilities to extend the framework to cover argumentative practices where the target is persuasion rather than deduction. The latter constitutes one of the aims of a new research project called Argumentation, Decision, Action (ADA) developped in collaboration with the MESHS Nord-Pas de Calais.
